Research Program (ENG)
The master “Empires and Transcontinental Spaces” is a firmly research oriented degree program that aims at developing independent research personalities. Interdisciplinary and international research is firmly integrated into the curriculum.
The basic module research practice includes training in academic writing and speaking as preparation for international academic jobs. Accordingly, knowledge of English as an academic language is also conveyed. The module moreover conveys skills in the area of science management. Students are tasked with organizing and preparing a workshop, a summer academy or a field trip under the guidance of their instructors.
The project and mobility module offers students the opportunity to do fieldwork or archival research for at least four weeks in Germany or abroad.
Advanced seminars in the profiling modules Transatlantic, Transpacific und Europe-Asia are interdisplinary and team-taught.
